BAL TO PRESENT NEW EXTERNAL TILING CPD AT CLERKENWELL DESIGN WEEK 2017

BAL is presenting its new CPD on external tiling solutions as part of design festival Clerkenwell Design Week.

In collaboration with British Ceramic Tile (BCT), BAL, provider of full tiling solutions, is presenting its new CPD on external tiling solutions as part of design festival Clerkenwell Design Week, which runs from 23rd-25th May.

The CPD is set for 1pm-2pm on Thursday 25th May at BCT’s London Hub on 26 Seward Street, London and introduces the benefits of external living spaces in modern build.

Focusing on tiling as a solution for external areas, it demonstrates what can be achieved and what materials and systems can be used to ensure perfect, lifelong installations. It also includes guidance on correct specifications, as well as a comparison of available assemblies, full system design and safe and comfortable transitions.

BAL’s new CPD seminar provides specifiers with a comprehensive technical overview on avoiding potential issues including cracked tiles, frost damage, efflorescence and moisture staining – all caused by inadequate drainage of the tile’s surface.

Matthew Leaver, Head of Specification at BAL, said: “The trend for outdoor living has led to a growth in domestic and commercial markets for external tiles on balconies, large roof/ground floor terraces and patios.

“As well as adding monetary value to a property, tiled external areas can be aesthetically pleasing, offering a wide range of colours, textures and finishes – however without the correct specifications these outside systems can fail.

“The CPD gives specifiers and architects a thorough overview of all the different systems available on the market and provides them with a thorough understanding of design considerations such as construction, waterproofing, insulation, falls, drainage, movement joints and edge details.”
