Knaresborough-based stone and tile expert Lapicida has raised £1,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support, fielding two teams to take on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge.

A ten-strong Walking Team, headed by Lapicida’s Head of Operations Steve Halpin, who organised the fundraiser, completed the course in 11 hours. The three-man Running Team stormed home in just 6.5 hours.

Lapicida’s Managing Director, Jason Cherrington, commented: “Although the Three Peaks is such a tough challenge, we all completed it within the 12-hour target. One of our team has recently undergone treatment for cancer and received support from Macmillan, so we feel immensely proud to be supporting such a worthy cause.”

Michaela Ryder, local Senior Fundraising Manager for Macmillan, said: “We are so grateful to the team at Lapicida for their support. Macmillan rely almost entirely on voluntary donations, so it is only thanks to the support of local businesses like them that we can keep providing the best cancer care possible. It costs just £28 to fund a Macmillan Nurse for an hour, so every penny raised by the Three Peaks team will make a huge difference.

"Macmillan’s ambition is to help everyone with cancer to live their life as fully as they can, and with Lapicida’s support we work towards that goal.”
