Solus Ceramics is fully equipped for BIM

Solus Ceramics, one of the UK’s leading suppliers of commercial wall and floor tiles, has launched new Building Information Modelling (BIM) files across 17 of its market leading ranges.

Working with BIMobject, the easily accessible data provides essential technical information on a tile’s aesthetics, properties, physical characteristics, and visualisation and functional data.

The information on all 17 tile ranges will feature on Solus Ceramics’ website, allowing architects and specifiers to simply incorporate them into any design and build project. The objects, which can be downloaded in a variety of formats including Revit, ArchiCad, AutoCAD and Sketchup, include some of Solus Ceramics’ most popular tile ranges, such as Boardwalk and Catalyst through to Modular and Porcelain Flare.

Stephen Baker, Sales Director at Solus Ceramics, said: “The concept of BIM has been in existence for a long time, but is now an essential process in the way we plan, design and build centrally procured government infrastructures.

“With such an extensive range of commercial and floor tiles available that are able to meet the needs of varying projects, it was imperative that we made this information readily accessible to those architects and specifiers who need it. By working closely with BIMobject, we were not only fully prepared for the Government’s mandate to have all centrally-funded construction projects undertaken using BIM level 2, but we’re doing all we can to help simplify the design process.”
