With a new layout and zones, dynamic education programme, innovation hub and much more, this year’s return of the Surface and Materials Show is not to be missed!

A valuable aspect of UK Construction Week, The Surface & Materials Show, which will be hosted at the NEC Birmingham from 10th-12th October 2017, celebrates its third year with an inspiring package of seminars, stands and events.  In 1,600 m² of space, the Surface & Materials Show is a key element of the multiplex of nine shows under one convenient roof, presenting a fascinating opportunity to explore a wide range of products, technologies and services.

Whether seeking to increase knowledge, discover new materials, or to network with the brightest and the best of industry, the Surface & Materials Show is the place to be. Last year’s event saw a 38% increase in visitor numbers, with over 30,000 people attending UKCW overall and 3,633 members of architecture and design practices making a beeline for the Surfaces & Materials sector to engage with 56 exhibitors.

A recent survey conducted by UKCW with over 1,000 professionals revealed some noteworthy opinions on architecture and construction – including preferring Sir Richard Branson to head up infrastructure post the general election, demanding greater investment in council house building, and pushing for increased Brownfield  site use. These are significant times for the industry, and never more vital for a wide cross section of its members to come to together at events such as this.

Features of the show include: Material Lab, curated by award-winning experts in surface innovations; seminars; the FITA Flooring Workshop; a dedicated Kitchens &Bathrooms segment; and much more. Full details of the schedule can be found on the Show’s website.

UKCW Event Director, Nathan Garnett, said: “The Surface & Materials Show goes from strength to strength, representing a dynamic sector of the construction industry at the cutting edge of design, technology and debate.

“This year, having listened closely to feedback, we have a new position and layout for this exciting zone. Close to the connection with the Grand Designs event, the show now also incorporates a dedicated kitchen and bathroom section, and centres the more decorative finishes around the innovation hub and seminar theatre, circling outward to the heavier duty products and the flooring workshop, which will have its own separate area.”
