WELSH SLATE INTRODUCES FIRST BIM OBJECTS TO CONTRACTORS

Natural slate manufacturer Welsh Slate has launched its first BIM objects to specifiers and contractors.

Natural slate manufacturer Welsh Slate has launched its first BIM objects to specifiers and contractors.

The company, part of the Lagan Group, has introduced a total of more than 20 BIM architectural objects for roofing, cladding, flooring, walling and paving applications.

Downloadable in the popular BIM format Autodesk Revit, they are compatible with virtually all commonly used BIM software employed by both designers and installers.

Welsh Slate’s BIM models can be applied to 3D design models which have the technical performance data embedded within which an architect needs to guide them through the whole design and construction process.

The renderings complement the drawings and details that are the legal documents in the design and construction process when the information model is a basis for tenders and proposals.

The BIM objects are available on request from enquiries@welshslate.com or 01248 600656 and are provided as an email attachment.

Welsh Slate’s Technical Sales Manager, John Owens, who oversaw the project, said: “This BIM capability makes it even easier for our customers to design and specify projects with our natural slate systems.

“These BIM objects contain all the relevant product information and performance values and provide a new-generation method of sharing our product data within the building supply chain.”
