Ceramique Internationale Secures Work on Landmark Buildings

Tile specialist, Ceramique Internationale, has secured contracts on the refurbishment of four of the most prestigious and high-profile buildings in Leeds city centre.

The Leeds-based ceramics distributor has already contributed 400m² of tiles to two phases of the recent Leeds railway station revamp and is currently supplying stunning focal flooring features for the new Channel 4 headquarters in The Majestic – a 100-year-old former cinema and nightclub in the heart of the city

In addition, Ceramique Internationale is also working on the refurbishments of the iconic, glass-fronted 1 City Square office accommodation and Leeds Building Society’s new headquarters, Sovereign House on Sovereign Street.

Cameron Fraser, Director at Ceramique Internationale, said: “These are some of the most high-profile buildings in Leeds and we are thrilled to be involved in such exciting and quality projects. Channel 4’s move to the city is a huge boost to what was already a booming development market and these prominent buildings will be jewels in the crown when they are all complete.”

The company is supplying 650m² of marble-effect floor tiles and 600m² of cement-effect wall tiles for the new lobby at the Majestic, along with a stunning waterjet cut radial feature for the light-filled Palm Court area at the centre of the building. Channel 4 is expected to move into the third, fourth and fifth floors of the building later this year, leaving four further floors of contemporary workspaces available.

Tiles from some of Italy’s top tile manufacturers – including Casalgrande Padana, Refin and Magica - will be used to refurbish the entrance, WCs and shower rooms at 1 City Square, while more than 2,000m² of Casalgrande tiles will be used to refurbish communal areas at Sovereign House.
