ECOPROTEC LIFTS GRAFFITI AND SPIRITS AT CHURCH

Church Graffiti Removed with LTP

LTP’s Ecoprotec Graffiti system has helped restore the church interior at St John’s, after a chancel wall was recently vandalised.

The restoration project was carried out by Farcroft Restoration, by its stone technician Dave Berry, and involved removal of orange aerosol from an original Portland stone wall within the church nave. Having been advised that the graffiti couldn’t be removed with a hydraulic spray, LTP’s Ecoprotec treatment was praised for its “absolutely fantastic” results, completely restoring the stonework and removing all traces of the graffiti.

St John the Evangelist is a small, family-friendly Anglican church in the village of Ingrow, on the River Worth. The church is Grade II listed and was built in 1843. The recent vandalism was met with great sadness, especially as the large orange graffiti was clearly visible from the holy table; the focus of the church’s monthly baptisms.  Great care was needed during the renovation, to ensure that the damage was rectified and the original Portland stone was fully preserved.

During works, LTP’s Ecoprotec Graffiti Remover was applied to wet stone. The non-caustic treatment has a low-odour, ecological formulation and a ‘non-drip’ paste-like consistency.  Most of the damage was lifted after 10 minutes contact and faint remnants were removed with an emulsifying brush.  The Portland stone was then sealed with LTP’s Ecoprotec Anti-Graffiti sealer; a water-based impregnating treatment that protects porous surfaces against stains and atmospheric pollution, without forming a film or altering appearance. Both formulations provided a safe, environmentally-friendly application, restoring the chancel wall and providing long-term protection for up to ten years.

Manufactured in the UK, LTP’s Ecoprotec range includes 12 cleaning and sealing treatments developed for the eco-focused contract market.  All products have a high-performance, low-odour and low-VOC formulation, developed for the treatment of polished and unpolished natural and artificial stone, paving, porcelain, ceramic, concrete, masonry and terrazzo.
