Johnson Tiles #TakeNote Time Capsule

Johnson Tiles has launched a ‘digital time capsule’ to encourage the design community to reflect and celebrate on learnings from the past year. 

Aptly named #TakeNote, visitors are invited to post a short message to their future self to share with the community. For every message added to the time capsule, Johnson Tiles will donate one £20 design materials kit to The Make Bank. The social project helps disadvantaged young people to pursue their dream career in the creative industries.

The launch of the digital time capsule is part of the company’s 120th Anniversary activity in honour of ‘British resourcefulness’. 

Johnson Tiles’ Managing Director, Stephen Dixon, said: “The past year has been particularly challenging and has made us all reconsider the resources at our disposal and what we value most. As we look to the future, the time capsule enables us to capture what it means to be resourceful today - and through Make Bank, support the creative talent that will make up our diverse workforce of the future.

“As a business that continues to innovate and adapt, we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate 120 years than by reflecting on what we’ve learnt, how we’ve adapted and what we can take forward to leverage future opportunities. We have designed this to be a communal space and we want to encourage everyone to reflect and share their experiences and learnings - from how we spend our time, to where we found efficiencies or overcame the challenges of the lockdown environment.”

The digital time capsule is the latest initiative from Johnson Tiles in its celebration of ‘British resourcefulness’, following the unveiling of a new logo that pays tribute to its rich British heritage. The company is also launching a new podcast, interviewing designers and makers about their experiences and the value of ‘making’, community and what it means to be resourceful in architecture and design today.
