The British Wood Flooring Association Seeks Apprentices of All Ages

The British Wood Flooring Association

The British Wood Flooring Association (BWFA) is looking for apprentices for immediate start on their next intake group. FloorSkills is the training provider partner for the BWFA.

This is a two year course, which can be fully funded through the CITB, also providing an additional funding payment to the employer for assistance with the trainee's wage or to be used at the employer’s discretion for expenses while the apprentice attends the centre.

The in-centre training in is spread over 18 months in block release attendance to include time working for the employer, followed by assessment while at work on-site during the final six months. It is available to all age groups not only to school leavers.

The groups are small to allow as much one-to-one tuition as possible with most of the course content being taught by Sid Bourne, who devised the apprenticeship scheme and is well known to most within the industry. The training in centre, is very hands on, and by the end of the 18 months the apprentice will be confident in floor preparation, estimating and planning, strip and plank, herringbone, bespoke design, sand and seal, floor repairs and board replacements, sports floors and the new additional unit to the syllabus is stairways.

The FloorSkills training centre is conveniently located on the outskirts of Birmingham just five minutes from the M42 and is easily accessible by motorway and train.
