Building on the success of the internationally respected WoolSafe Approved programme The WoolSafe Organisation has recently launched two new certifications: CleanSeal and EnviroSeal. These new marks will be used on carpet cleaning products to denote which are best at cleaning different fibres, and environmental credentials.

In many ways CleanSeal mirrors the WoolSafe Approved programme but the certification mark will highlight those products that are formulated to perform best on man-made fibres. CleanSeal Approved products will clean carpets and rugs to the highest standards without causing any of the common problems that can arise during or after cleaning such as rapid soiling and texture change from sticky residues, or colour change or colour loss from bleaching agents.

Both programmes are the catalyst for relevant products to be independently assessed for their green credentials through EnviroSeal. EnviroSeal helps conscientious carpet manufacturers, retailers and owners to identify cleaning products that will minimise the environmental impact of maintaining the floor covering over the five, 10 or 15 years of its installation. Of course, effective maintenance using quality products extends the life of the floor covering not only to the benefit of the environment but also the owner’s pockets.
